Dr Julius Maina Mathara will give a presentation on 'Aflatoxin in food; what role for biotechnology?' Dr Mathara is a food microbiology and biotechnology lecturer at the Institute for Biotechnology Research, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He holds a PhD in Food Science (microbial biotechnology) from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany with a background in microbial biotechnology, probiotics and biosafety and he has conducted extensive research in the area of mycotoxins including a recent research on the role of bacteria in their inhibition at the Max Rubner Institute, Karlsruhe Germany. |
